There was practicallly a Raj Kapoor kind of Kal, Aaj Aur Kal scene on the sets of Vishal Bharadwaj’s Ishqiya.

Vidya Balan’s 80-year-old aunt had accompanied Vidya’s mother and sister to the shoot in Wai. "It was quite a sight to watch the three women of three different generations interacting with each other. Vidya’s aunt was pretty excited to watch the shooting of the film," revealed a unit member.

Vidya’s aunt has been avid Hindi film buff. "This was the first time that she had actually got an opportunity to watch a film shoot. She was as excited as a child in a toy store. Vidya’s aunt was amused by the constant call for silence on the sets. She also felt worried for the assistant director! The AD’s constant screaming, she feared, would make him lose his voice." Vidya Balan might look really odd with young heroes like Shahid Kapoor but she continues to bag biggie films with a period feel or where the heroine is supposed to look Indian. And yeah, what she’s best suited to - matured heroes!

She’s starring with Sanjay Dutt and Salman Khan in Raj Kumar Santoshi’s ’Jis Lahore Nahin Dekhya Woh Jamiya Nahin.’ Thankfully she’ll be playing Sanjay Dutt’s wife in the film and isn’t the romantic interest of youngster Neil Nitin Mukesh who’s the third lead!

The movie will be shot in India because according to director Santoshi shooting in Lahore is impractical as the crew mightn’t get the architecture of the partition times any more. So art designer, Nitish Roy is building Lahore in Hyderabad now. Every lane, by-line, the transportation; the electric wires will be recreated. Extensive research on Lahore during the Partition era is done so that every detail is replicated.

Santoshi calls it a challenge as it is his second pre-Independence film after ’The Legend of Bhagat Singh where he’ll combine drama and fiction into history.With films like this one and ’Chenab Gandhi’, Vidya’s days in Bollywood are still not numbered!

If Vishal made Saif Ali Khan learn the UP dialect including the expletives in Omkara the director has made Vidya Balan take driving lessons for Ishqiya. "Vidya was a complete phobic when it came to driving. She has acute road phobia. She was petrified at the thought of driving. The very thought of driving a car would send shivers down her spine. But not anymore! And it is all thanks to Vishal Bharadwaj. Driving a car was something that is completely alien to her. But Vishal saw to it that she mastered the art and now is pretty comfortable manoeuvring her car on the road."

For her role in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Ishqiya, Vidya Balan is leaving no stone unturned. She is getting into the skin of her character by learning a special language and dialect for the film. And now here comes the clincher. A source on the sets reveals that Vidya’s been on cloud nine recently thanks to Ishqiya again. Reason? The actress just finished a ten day work shop with her idol Naseeruddin Shah, who also stars in the film along with Arshad Warsi.

A source close to the actress revealed, "The character that Vidya is playing in Ishqiya is a very complex character which is very difficult to enact. Vidya thought that the way to emote the character on screen was best learnt from Naseeruddin Shah because the veteran actor was a master at it. She was ecstatic to be discussing cinema with the master himself.

Even though one hears they ended up discussing the film and cinema at length instead of doing a serious workshop, Vidya still treasures the experience and is looking forward to working with Naseer in the film."

Vidya also learnt to speak the UP dialect during those ten days. "Vidya was just not familiar with UP kind of Hindi. She mastered it by getting a teacher to teach her the exact dialect."

Looking hot and sizzling in her all new glam look, the single-and-contemplating-if-to-mingle Vidya, arrived late at the launch of the issue. This time she had the rain gods to blame. Dressed in a black dress, it seemed like she is finally getting close to being stylish.

Talking about the various allegations thrust on her, according to the southern siren, the most absurd gossip was her decision to get a tattoo done. She laughed, “That was the most baseless rumour I’ve come across.” Always in the news for her varied ‘alleged’ love interests, perhaps its time for her to retaliate as many of her counterparts are doing. Ask her which medium she would choose and she says, “I have started getting on to the net, checking blogs. I am beginning to enjoy it as a new world has opened now.” So do we see another star venting out her frustration via blogging? Perhaps yes. Vidya says, “I love to write. So may be if I had a little more time in hand, I will (blog).”

Bollywood new young beautiful couple Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan shares screen space in the movie "Kismat Konnection". Shahid Kapoor got a taste of Vidya Balan’s dancing skills while shooting for a promotional video at the Film City for their forthcoming ‘Kismat Konnection’. Though Vidya is a traditional dancer, she finds it difficult learning western steps. With as many as 47 retakes, no doubt choreographer Ahmed Khan was irked but Shahid asked him to keep his cool.

With Vidya in a plunging neckline and black leggings and Shahid in a pair of hot grey pants, satin shirt and a striking blue tie, the couple did look gorgeous. But though the couple is rumored to have developed intimate ‘Konnection’ while shooting for ‘Kismat Konnection’, the dance ‘Konnection’ sure seemed to be missing!
