Mandira Bedi excited about her dancing
After proving herself as an actor and an anchor on the small screen, Mandira Bedi is now all set to shake a leg for Star Plus’s special Independence Day show. ’This will be the first time I will be dancing on the small screen and I’m pretty excited about it,’ Mandira told on the sidelines of an event here organised by Timex watches.
’I’m not a good dancer but I’m giving it a shot. I’m hopeful that my fans will surely like my dancing act,’ she added. Not many people know that Mandira has done an item number for Tamil movie ’Manmadhan’ in 2004. Her dancing skills were also seen in the 1995 blockbuster ’Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge’ in the song ’Mehndi laga ke rakhna’ where she matched steps with Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol.
So now what about doing an item number for Bollywood? Mandira says she is open to the idea but is waiting for the right offer. ’A peppy song and a good banner will make a perfect combination,’ Mandira said. The actress, who was last seen on the big screen in Sanjay Gupta’s ’Dus Kahaniyaan’, is now all geared up for Pritish Nandy’s ’Meerabai Not Out’ - a cricket-centric film in which India’s test captain Anil Kumble plays a cameo.
The cricket crazy actress essays the lead role in the film. Her association with cricket started when she hosted ’Extraa Innings’ during the World Cup tournament in 2003 and 2007 and became known more for her noodle-strapped blouses. Talking about her role, Mandira said: ’In this movie, I eat, drink and sleep cricket. It is all about cricket fans and their love for sport heroes. And this is the first time (Anil) Kumble will appear on screen. It will be a treat to see him acting on the silver screen.’
The actress, who made an everlasting impression with her with long-running soap ’Shanti’ on Doordarshan, is not interested in doing any more serials. ’’Shanti’ was a dream debut for me. It was a long series but not a stretched soap drama that we have nowadays. It is so boring for me to be a part of these never ending dramas,’ said Mandira, who featured in a negative role in Ekta Kapoor’s ’Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thhi’.
Achint Kaur is now essaying the character. Mandira is mostly anchoring reality shows now. Recently she finished hosting music show ’Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar’ and has now replaced Bhojpuri actor Ravi Kishen as the anchor of Zee TV’s reality show ’Ek Se Badkar Ek’.

Imran Khan and his Luck co-star Shruti Hassan go back a long way. Shruti, her younger sister Akshara and their mom Sarika were regular house guests in the Khan household at the time when Sarika was based in Chennai and was a frequent visitor to Mumbai.
"That’s right," concedes Imran. "We almost grew up together. Initially, Soham wanted to sign a new girl opposite me in Luck. I recommended Shruti. And I’m glad I did. Shruti has turned out to be wonderful in Luck. In terms of her look, talent and body language, Shruti is not your conventional heroine at all. She’s very unconventional."
Shruti’s real-life status as a rock singer is now being incorporated into Luck. Says Imran, "I’ve discussed the idea of Shruti singing in Luck with my director Soham Shah, and he’s kicked about it.
So Shruti will be singing in Luck. In fact Soham and music director Pritam are having music sessions right now. A song is being designed for Shruti."
What about Imran singing for himself? Not too many people know that Imran sings quite well and entertains family, friends and girlfriend with his singing. At first Imran brushes off the idea. "You’ve seen Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. You’ve seen how badly I sing in the climax? But I do have a steady voice. I sing the lower notes well. So with a little bit of training I may be able to sing for one of my films."
For now Imran is happy doing all the rugged outdoor sports with Shruti Hassan in Soham Shah’s Luck. "I think it’s a helluva concept. No one has done any film like Luck before." In fact, Imran would love to be part of the sports film that Soham will now be directing for Sanjay Dutt Productions. "I love outdoor sports, Sanju Baba and I love working with Soham. So there’s no reason why I wouldn’t want to be part of Soham’s next."
Imran says he finds it easy to get along with all the directors and co-stars he has so far worked with. "I do have an immediate and easy connectivity with people. I guess that quality works for me on screen. My aim is to play characters that people can easily connect with. That’s true of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na, Kidnap, Luck and Delhi Belly. These are the only films I’ve signed so far."

Shilpa Shetty has started her new blog ‘Shilpa Channel’ and it was through this blog that her admirers came to know that the sexy long legs that have kept them mesmerized so long had been hurt lately.
Blaming it all to a freak accident, Shilpa said in her blog, “The whole of last week just flew experiencing this near war situation in Mumbai, the place I was born in and unconditionally love. In all this chaos, I completely forgot that I hurt my foot bad enough to get 15 stitches, in a freak accident, thanks to my big sunglasses and nose in the air; I overlooked a sharp metal piece that slit my foot, thankfully not below but over the foot!”
However Shilpa does not forget to assure that the mishap will not prevent her from shooting for her new film ‘Desire’ (an Indo-Chinese project), starring her first foreign actor Xia Yu from China.

Bollywood beauty Shilpa Shetty recently injured her foot and blames her big sunglasses for the mishap. The actress says that it has disrupted the schedule of her international project Desire.
“I hurt my foot bad enough to get 15 stitches. Don’t ask me how. In a freak accident, thanks to my big sunglasses and nose in the air, I overlooked a sharp metal piece that slit my foot, thankfully not below but over the foot,” Shilpa posted on her blog .
“It is nothing that local anaesthesia, a tetanus injection and antibiotics couldn’t solve. There’s nothing to worry about other than my dates that have gone for a toss, disabling me from taking Odissi lessons for my new film Desire,” she wrote.
The actress, who made a special appearance in hit film Dostana, is extremely excited about this Indo-Chinese project in which she is working with a foreign actor for the first time. She is paired with Chinese actor Xia Yu.
But for now, she plans to take it easy for at least two weeks for the healing of her injured foot. She ended her blog by posting: “Look before you leap and stay grounded."

According to a source, “Shilpa wanted to start her production house for some time now. She has already launched her yoga DVDs under her banner. She was looking for a suitable script when Manish Jha came up with this suggestion of an action comedy. Shilpa loved it so much that she immediately agreed to do it and even asked UTV to co-produce the film. Bipasha Basu will play a major role in the film along with Shilpa. However the role for the leading man is still under consideration.”

Bollywood actress Shilpa Shetty says , "These have been the worst four days of my life! I was in Dubai when I suffered congestion and was down with a bad bout of cough and cold. What’s worse was that after I went to Tirupati last week and stayed over at a friend’s place, I was bitten by her dog!"
Adds Shilpa "Fortunately, because it was a domestic animal, my doctor advised me against taking anti-rabies injections. Instead, I took antibiotics. The dog bite wasn’t so bad. His nails had scratched my leg and that had swollen up. It wasn’t an unfriendly dog, but I later heard that it was going through some hormonal changes."
Shilpa says her taking a double antibiotic dose one, for the dog bites and another for the chest congestion proved to be serious for her. "The strong antibiotics ruined my stomach lining and made me so weak that I had to be carried in a wheelchair from the airport on Wednesday evening when I returned from Dubai. Now I am having antacids. It was so embarrassing to be wheeled in.
Shilpa says that for the last few days she has been only on curd rice to soothe her stomach. "Last week, I’ve hardly been eating. I’ve been so sick that when I eat I feel like throwing up. If I don’t recover soon my doctors say I might have to get an endoscopy done. I shed 2 kgs in the process."Miseries come in droves and never alone.Shilpa Shetty realised this wordings.Shilpa adds that things got so bad that she couldn’t celebrate her birthday in Dubai. Vidya Balan’s 80-year-old aunt had accompanied Vidya’s mother and sister to the shoot in Wai. "It was quite a sight to watch the three women of three different generations interacting with each other. Vidya’s aunt was pretty excited to watch the shooting of the film," revealed a unit member.
Vidya’s aunt has been avid Hindi film buff. "This was the first time that she had actually got an opportunity to watch a film shoot. She was as excited as a child in a toy store. Vidya's unforgettable stint with her idol
For her role in Vishal Bharadwaj’s Ishqiya, Vidya Balan is leaving no stone unturned. She is getting into the skin of her character by learning a special language and dialect for the film. And now here comes the clincher. A source on the sets reveals that Vidya’s been on cloud nine recently thanks to Ishqiya again. Reason? The actress just finished a ten day work shop with her idol Naseeruddin Shah, who also stars in the film along with Arshad Warsi.
A source close to the actress revealed, "The character that Vidya is playing in Ishqiya is a very complex character which is very difficult to enact. Vidya thought that the way to emote the character on screen was best learnt from Naseeruddin Shah because the veteran actor was a master at it. She was ecstatic to be discussing cinema with the master himself.
Even though one hears they ended up discussing the film and cinema at length instead of doing a serious workshop, Vidya still treasures the experience and is looking forward to working with Naseer in the film."
Vidya also learnt to speak the UP dialect during those ten days. "Vidya was just not familiar with UP kind of Hindi. She mastered it by getting a teacher to teach her the exact dialect."

Looking hot and sizzling in her all new glam look, the single-and-contemplating-if-to-mingle Vidya, arrived late at the launch of the issue. This time she had the rain gods to blame. Dressed in a black dress, it seemed like she is finally getting close to being stylish.
Talking about the various allegations thrust on her, according to the southern siren, the most absurd gossip was her decision to get a tattoo done. She laughed, “That was the most baseless rumour I’ve come across.” Always in the news for her varied ‘alleged’ love interests, perhaps its time for her to retaliate as many of her counterparts are doing. Ask her which medium she would choose and she says, “I have started getting on to the net, checking blogs. I am beginning to enjoy it as a new world has opened now.” So do we see another star venting out her frustration via blogging? Perhaps yes. Vidya says, “I love to write. So may be if I had a little more time in hand, I will (blog).”

Shahid Kapoor got a taste of Vidya Balan’s dancing skills while shooting for a promotional video at the Film City for their forthcoming ‘Kismat Konnection’. Though Vidya is a traditional dancer, she finds it difficult learning western steps. With as many as 47 retakes, no doubt choreographer Ahmed Khan was irked but Shahid asked him to keep his cool.
With Vidya in a plunging neckline and black leggings and Shahid in a pair of hot grey pants, satin shirt and a striking blue tie, the couple did look gorgeous. But though the couple is rumored to have developed intimate ‘Konnection’ while shooting for ‘Kismat Konnection’, the dance ‘Konnection’ sure seemed to be missing!
